JLL Appointed by Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Land Resources and Planning to Provide Industrial Function Planning for the Yangtze River Demonstration District

JLL conducted a comprehensive study of the development concept of new cities around the world, comparing the development path of science cities at home and abroad.

Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Land Resources and Planning to provide industrial function planning for the starting area of the Yangtze River Demonstration District – a major planning and construction project in Wuhan

As domestic demand, urbanization, and the strategy of balanced regional development continue in China, Wuhan holds a more and more prominent position as it leads the rise of countries central region, becoming one of the fastest growing cities in China. The Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government hopes to build the Yangtze River Demonstration District with the help of planning, creating an eye-catching area that represents the highest achievement of urban development and acts as a model for future world cities.

The overall planning of the Yangtze River Demonstration District covers an area of 500 square kilometers, of which the initial phase is 50 square kilometers. After the establishment of the Yangtze River Demonstration District Management Committee, it will fully promote the application of the Wuhan Yangtze River New Area at the national-level. The overall concept planning of the Yangtze River Demonstration District, research on the structure of the space for the initial phase, and the development of industrial planning is marked for completion in 2017.

JLL conducted a comprehensive study of the development concept of new cities around the world, comparing the development path of science cities at home and abroad. By combining this with the project's own situation, JLL then proposed the overall industrial and functional orientation of the starting area of the Yangtze River Demonstration District. On this basis, the focus is on offering advice for the future development model, timing, and direction taken for the initial phase of the Yangtze River Demonstration District, as well as suggestions for attracting investments for the project in the future.

The planning of the industrial function of the starting area of the Yangtze River Demonstration District was highly valued by the leaders of Wuhan City and the Yangtze River Demonstration District Management Committee. This work will play a leading role in the overall development of the Yangtze River Demonstration District, while supporting the follow-up space planning and investment promotion work. 

JLL was appointed by the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Land Resources and Planning to provide planning researches for the historic city of Wuhan and to make recommendations to the local administration. Wuhan’s main urban area is following a “Three-Cities” plan, which aim to highlight the historical, contemporary, and future elements that is can offer. JLL has successively completed two master plans for the “City of the Future” (the Yangtze River Demonstration District) and the “Historical City”.
