UrbanLab 2022 Summary Report

Initiated in 2019, UrbanLab is the very first enterprise alliance focusing on technology and innovation of real estate in China. In 2022, Saint-Gobain Group joined UrbanLab as a new partner, alongside with JLL, Swire Properties, Shui On Xintiandi and Goodman Group. UrbanLab aims to explore and cultivate technology startups for the industry and unleash the technology potential of the industry.

In 2023, UrbanLab has identified three major challenges and opportunities in real estate industry arising from the low-carbonization and digitization. To address these challenges, UrbanLab has highlighted three PropTech themes:

  • Integrated Energy Service: Energy structure transformation and efficient use of clean energy

  • Green Building Materials: Carbon reduction throughout the entire lifecycle of buildings under the "Dual Carbon" goals

  • Intelligent Human Assistance: Imbalanced labor force structure and a trend toward human-machine collaboration

The report, Tech-Enabled Sustainable Development in Real Estate in China, will share the latest insights on technology trends, showcase 10 startups that have been invited to join Urbanlab ecosystem, highlight case studies of collaboration, and more.
