Global regulation and policy are evolving rapidly to address climate impacts and enhance resilience in the built environment, fundamentally reshaping businesses and markets worldwide.

Given the built environment sector's regionalized and fragmented nature, coordinated action throughout the entire value chain is essential to demonstrate to governments that the transition is achievable, profitable, and broadly supported.

As a result, the Parties of the Paris Agreement established the Climate High-Level Champions, appointed by the COP presidencies, to connect the work of cities, regions, businesses and investors with the work of governments and COP.

To help the Champions deliver on their mission, the Climate Champions Team (CCT) was established in 2020. Since its inception, JLL and Arup have contributed sustainability experts on a pro bono basis to spearhead the CCT's built environment workstream. These specialists serve as intermediaries between private sector stakeholders and policymakers, driving the built environment's transition toward decarbonization.
