Ebb and Flow: The Changing Dynamics of China's Real Estate Investment Market

A year and a half ago, we wrote about the rise of domestic investors in China's institutional real estate market. In the intervening period, China's insurance companies were given the green light to invest in direct real estate assets whilst domestic REITs remain under consideration for the foreseeable future. Activity levels of foreign institutional real estate investors rebounded significantly in 2010, as they shifted from net sellers to buyers in Mainland China. Nimble regional funds also raised their game significantly.
