Myth busting Tianjin In March, my colleague, Warner Brown, wrote a Tea Leaf Nation article, “A Map of China, By Stereotype”, which included an amusing map showing stereotypes of the different provinces and municipalities of China. The map uses disparaging adjectives to describe many of the provinces and municipalities in China. For Tianjin, the map my colleague created illustrates a perfect example of one of the two myths that are continually perpetuated about Tianjin, namely that Tianjin is not a top-tier city. The other myth, which is influenced by the first, is that Tianjin’s office and retail markets are oversupplied. However, these are just myths and do not reflect the current reality of the city.
