WUHAN, 10 June 2014 – At the invitation of the Wuhan municipal government, Jeremy Kelly, Director of JLL Global Research, attended the 2014 Wuhan TV Forum on Internationalization and delivered the keynote speech 'Wuhan on the World Stage'. Before the event, Jeremy accepted a Wuhan Municipal Government International Consulting Advisor appointment letter from Liangzhi Tang, the city mayor. Mr. Tang cordially invited Jeremy to regularly visit Wuhan and provide insights and suggestions on the city's internationalization process.Jeremy said in his speech that Wuhan is among the world's top five cities with the best momentum. In the City Momentum Index (CMI), exclusively launched by JLL, Wuhan ranked fifth among the world's most dynamic cities and differentiated itself from other cities with its rapid rate of urbanization. Jeremy commented on Wuhan's performance in short-term socioeconomic momentum, short-term commercial real estate momentum and global connectivity; key factors contributing to the city's strong position in the CMI. He also shared best practices of other global cities in driving innovation, which he suggested Wuhan can learn from, and offered JLL's professional insights on how to maintain the city's impressive momentum. In closing, Jeremy commented, "Wuhan has great potential for growth. I am so proud to be one of its ambassadors with the privilege of introducing this great city to the world."Following his keynote speech, Jeremy was joined by Saskia Sassen, Professor of Sociology at Columbia University and author of The Global City: New York, London, Tokyo on a panel discussion themed: 'Internationalization: The Road to Wuhan's Revival'. During the discussion, Jeremy further explained Wuhan's development roadmap towards internationalization and methods of maintaining the city's momentum in a sustainable manner.As part of the Wuhan Internationalization Enhancement Program, the 2014 Wuhan TV Forum on Internationalization was organized by the Wuhan Foreign Affairs Office, Wuhan Land Resources and Planning Bureau and Wuhan TV. A number of prominent international experts and local institutions were invited to the TV forum to discuss Wuhan's internationalization process. Anthony Couse, Managing Director of JLL East China, and Li Jie, Managing Director of JLL Wuhan, were among the attendees and provided their suggestions.Wuhan is experiencing a renaissance by virtue of its new regional repositioning and ambitious industrial planning.
