Bio

Johnny Shao heads the Capital Markets business for JLL Shanghai and East China. He is responsible for enbloc property investment of major markets, assisting investors, developers and property owners on their investment strategies and helping them complete en-bloc acquisitions and sales. He is very experienced and has good relationship with developers, operators, institutional investors, foreign PE firms, and state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

Previous experience

Mr. Shao has over 11 years of real estate investment experiences in China. Prior to joining JLL, he led a well-known international real estate consulting firm’s China Capital Markets team across six offices, helping to grow the China team and achieved total transaction volume of RMB 8 billion in two years. Before CBRE, Mr. Shao served Forterra Trust as their Head of Mergers & Acquisitions, leading a number of acquisitions and disposal of prime projects in China totaling RMB 4 billion.

Mr. Shao had also worked as a senior broker of investment sales for another well-known real estate consulting firm where he led a wide variety of projects on bulk property en-bloc acquisitions in major China markets such as Shanghai and Beijing, including City Apartment, Inpoint Mall, Baccarat Residence No.8 & No.9, Belgravia Place, Shanghai Changshou Mall and The Exchange, Beijing. His transactions during that time totaled over RMB 6 billion.

  • Mr Shao holds a degree of MPhil in Real Estate Finance from University of Cambridge 
  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, MRICS
  • Lecturer/Tutor for ‘CREIF Certificate’ by Asia Pacific Real Estate Association
